Software company working to keep personal information safe during events

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — A new security check point is being used during Cheers to the Weekend in Lynchburg every Friday night.
The company is called Patron ID.
It’s a local company that’s working on developing software that’s meant to make concerts safer.
It had it’s first test run at the Cheers to the Weekend event last Friday.
Here’s how it works:
When you come into a venue a machine will scan your driver’s license or ID.
It will then run your information through a system performing something similar to a background check.
It will also scan names through a terrorist watch list database.
This way security can keep track of who is entering the venue.
The company’s owner said whether or not someone with a questionable background gets into an event would be up to the event organizer’s discretion.
As for the information collected in Friday’s test run, the company hasn’t answered as to what they are doing with the information they are collecting, but emphasized that the software is still very much in the development stage.
Also, scanning your ID on Friday night was optional.
They company said it isn’t sure if they’ll be running the checks again this Friday.
